OpenSolaris Project: Java Desktop System: A GNOME-based desktopView the leaders for this projectProject Observers Endorsing communitiesDesktopGames on OpenSolaris
The Java Desktop System is a secure and comprehensive enterprise desktop software solution for Solaris that combines the best of open source innovation from various communities such as GNOME, and Firefox. This ongoing project tracks these upstream communities, and their release cycles to provide a build environment and binary packages for the next generation desktop in future releases of Solaris. Download, Install and Run!The latest binary packages are always available at the JDS download center, along with details of how you can install them. We currently only have packages available for Solaris Nevada, both for x86 and SPARC. These packages must always be considered as developer releases, a reflection of the latest code that we are working off. They are not suitable for production systems and may contain instabilities. Help!If you have difficulties installing or using JDS, please send feedback to desktop-discuss[at]opensolaris[dot]org. Alternatively, hop onto irc.freenode.net and join us in #opensolaris. If you would like to file a bug, go to http://bugs.opensolaris.org, and provide details of the problems you are experiencing. |
